With permission I respectfully suggested to my mother that in order that her beloved name may always remain fresh in our memory even after she expired, let us give precedence to the first part siddh of Siddhachal and join to it her name, Rajkumar and thus when the boy was born he should be called "Siddhrajkumar." She gave her consent.

BIRTH OF SIDDHARAJKUMAR It was in the month of March 1908 that Siddharajkumar was born to the great joy of the venerable old lady and all the family members. In obedience to the resolution passed unanimously by the Bombay sangh in its meeting at Lalbagh I was at that time busy with the Sametsikhar case in Calcutta. On receiving the 'happy news of the birth of the boy I hastened to Jaipur and it was probably on the tenth or the eleventh day after the birth of the baby that I took him in my lap when all of a sudden he began to cry and weep bitterly. We tried all possible means to pacify him but all our plans failed. Our anxiety increased as time rolled on; the baby persisting for over half an hour
