________________ सिद्ध-सारस्वत थी। उसके सभी सदस्य सङ्काय में दाखिल हए, छानबीन करने के लिए। प्रवेश समिति के सदस्य के रूप में अन्य अध्यापकों के साथ मैं भी उनसे मिला। कड़ी छान-बीन के बाद सभी सदस्य सन्तुष्ट होकर चले गये, क्योंकि नियम सङ्कायप्रमुख प्रो0 जैन द्वारा लिए गए निर्णय के पक्ष में रहे। उस समय आपकी दृढ़ता और सफाई के साथ अपना पक्ष निष्पक्षतापूर्वक रखने के कौशल को देख हमको नयी सीख मिली। ऐसे ही अनेक संस्मरण हैं जिनका एकत्र उल्लेख समयसाध्य है। निरन्तर कुछ नया शैक्षणिक कार्य करते रहने की प्रेरणा मुझको आदरणीय सर से मिली। किसी भी व्यक्ति को मिलने वाला अपने ज्येष्ठ का संरक्षण तथा निरन्तर मिलने वाला आशीर्वाद अन्दर से बल प्रदान करता रहा। पूर्ण मनोयोग से अपने लिए निर्धारित दुरूह से भी दुरूह विषय को अध्यापन किए जाने के साथ विद्या तथा संस्था के प्रति समर्पण का परिणाम है कि आज विश्वविद्यालय में अनेक नवीन शैक्षणिक दायित्वों को भी बखूबी निभाने में कठिनाई का अनुभव नहीं होता। निष्पक्षता तथा सच्चाई के साथ अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह की प्रवृत्ति को आदरणीय जैन सर के सम्पर्क ने और दृढ़ किया। मैं आदरणीय जैन सर के दीर्घायुष्य की कामना करता हूँ और काशीपति बाबा विश्वनाथ और माता अन्नपूर्णा से प्रार्थना करता हूँ कि उनकी कृपा बनी रहे और आप संस्कृत विद्या की सेवा में निरन्तर समर्पित रहते हुए अपने जीवन को सफल बना सकें। आदरणीया माता जी तथा उनकी पूजनीया माता जी का स्नेह आज भी स्मरण मात्र से चित्त को प्रमुदित कर देता है। उनको भी प्रणाम निवेदन। प्रो. सदाशिव कुमार द्विवेदी प्रोफेसर, संस्कृत विभाग, काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय वाराणसी Passing the Batom of Knowledge I have known aged eminent scholar Prof. Sudarshan Lal Jain for almost 30 years. He is an erudite of Sanskrit literature, Prakrit literature and Jain philosophy. Time and again he has been showered with many honors by many organizations. Prof. Jain has directed the students like us while being posted as a head and a professor in Sanskrit department in B.H.U. He has also graced the post of Dean of Arts Faculty. Approx 45 research scholars have pursued their researches on deep and sophisticated subjects under his surveillance. Prof. Jain's students who are posted in different colleges and universities round the country as competent lecturers and professors are carrying his traditions ahead. Seeing his efforts and contributions in the field of education, our country's former President Shri Pranab Mukharjee has also awarded him with the Rashtrapati Award. From time to time Prof. Jain has propitiated the society of Sanskrit scholars in his area Kashi through his writings and delineations. Apparently Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan awarded him many times for his works. It is delighting that his festschrift is going to be published which is a matter of complacency! I pray to Lord may.
