___ अन्न-पानी, खाद्य और स्वाद्य पदार्थों के विषय में साधु स्वयं या किसी से PA सुनकर यह जान ले कि ये पदार्थ याचकों के वास्ते तैयार किये गये हैं तो वे पदार्थ साधु को अकल्पनीय हैं। अतः देने वाली स्त्री से स्पष्ट कहे कि इस प्रकार का भोजन-पानी मेरे योग्य नहीं है, अतः मैं ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता॥५१-५२॥
51, 52. If an ascetic has heard or otherwise become aware that some food has been specifically prepared for the purpose of giving to some beggars, then it is not proper for him to accept such food. So a disciplined ascetic should inform the woman that he is not allowed to accept such food. विशेषार्थ :
श्लोक ५१, ५२. वणिमट्ठा पगडं-वनीपकार्थप्रकृतं-दूसरों को अपनी दरिद्रता दिखाने से या उनकी प्रशंसा करने से जो द्रव्य मिलता है उसे वनी कहते हैं और वैसा पदार्थ पाने वाले को वनीपक। अतः याचक या भिखारी के निमित्त बनाया भोजन भी पूर्वोक्त कारणों से निषिद्ध है। स्थानांगसूत्र में पाँच प्रकार के वनीपक बताये गये हैं, जैसे-(१) अतिथि वनीपक, (२) कृपण वनीपक, (३) ब्राह्मण वनीपक, (४) श्व-वनीपक, तथा ५. श्रमण-वनीपक।
व्यक्ति की श्रद्धा देखकर उसी प्रकार के दान की प्रशंसा करने वाले, जैसे-अतिथि-भक्त के सन्मुख अतिथिदान की, कृपण (दरिद्र) के प्रति दयालुता रखने वाले के सन्मुख कृपणदान की, इसी प्रकार ब्राह्मण-भक्त, श्वान-भक्त तथा श्रमण-भक्त के सन्मुख उनकी प्रशंसा करके दान चाहने वालों को उक्त पाँच श्रेणी में विभक्त किया गया है।

ELABORATION: ___ (51, 52) Vanimattha pagadam-the things one gets by exhibiting one's poverty or by praising others is called vani, and he who gets such thing is called vanipak (beggar). Such food is also unacceptable for a shraman for the above said reasons. In the Sthanang Sutra there is a mention of five types of beggars depending upon the object of praise-(1) one who praises hospitality, (2) one who praises clemency, (3) one who praises Brahmins, (4) one who praises dogs, and (5) one who praises shramans.
