८ : पुत्तदारपरिकिण्णो मोहसंताणसंतओ।
पंकोसन्नो जहा नागो स पच्छा परितप्पइ॥ संयम भ्रष्ट साधु पुत्र और स्त्री जनों से घिरा हुआ एवं मोह-प्रवाह में बहता हुआ दलदल में फँसे हाथी के समान परिताप करता है॥८॥
8. Surrounded by his wife and sons and drifting in the stream of fondness and attachment, a shraman who has left the ascetic way repents like an elephant besieged in a swamp.
९ : अज्ज आहं गणी हुंतो भावियप्पा बहुस्सुओ।
जइ हं रमंतो परियाए सामण्णे जिणदेसिए॥ यदि मैं भावितात्मा और बहुश्रुत होता एवं जिनोपदेशित श्रमण-पर्याय में रमण करता, तो आज के दिन महान् गणी पद पर शोभित होता॥९॥
9. Had I been a worthy ascetic and a scholar of scriptures, I would have attained the lofty status of a gani (head of a large group of ascetics) today. विशेषार्थ :
श्लोक ९. भावियप्पा-भावितात्मा-ज्ञान, दर्शन, चारित्र तथा अनेक प्रकार की अनित्य अशरण आदि भावनाओं से जिसकी आत्मा भावित होती है अर्थात् जिसकी भावनाओं में वैराग्य रमा हो वह भावितात्मा। ELABORATION:
(9) Bhaviyappa—a worthy soul; one who craves and endeavours for liberation; one who is filled with sincere desire to acquire right knowledge, perception and conduct; one who is filled with feelings of detachment. संयम के सुख
