19. One who is not proud of his clan, appearance, acquisitions or knowledge; rising above all complexes, who is always involved in spiritual practices; he alone is a bhikshu. विशेषार्थ : __ श्लोक १९. मयाणि सव्वाणि-मद आठ हैं-जाति-मद, कुल-मद, रूप-मद, तप-मद, श्रुत-मद, लाभ-मद, ऐश्वर्य-मद तथा प्रज्ञा-मद। सभी प्रकार के मदों का त्याग करना। ELABORATION:
(19) Mayani savvani-all types of intoxication; here it refers to bloated ego that turns into a complex. There are eight types of such egos-pride of the clan, pride of the family, pride of beauty, pride of austerity, pride of knowledge, pride of achievements, pride of wealth and pride of intelligence. २० : पवेयए अज्जपयं महामुणी धम्मे ठिओ ठावयई परं पि।
निक्खम्म वज्जेज्ज कुसीललिंगं न यावि हासंकुहए जे स भिक्खू॥ ___ जो महामुनि, पर-उपकार की भावना से आर्य पद-धर्म का उपदेश देता है, स्वयं धर्म में स्थित होकर दूसरों को भी धर्म में स्थित करता है, संसार के दूषित वातावरण से बाहर निकल चुका है, कुशीललिंग को छोड़ देता है तथा कभी दूसरों को हँसाने के लिए कुतूहलपूर्ण कुचेष्टाएँ नहीं करता, वही भिक्षु है॥२०॥
20. That great ascetic who preaches religion with the feeling of altruism, who first establishes himself in dharma
and then helps others do so, who has come out of the evil ways ___of mundane life, who has abandoned the wrong school or path,
and who does not indulge in mockery to make others laugh, he alone is a bhikshu. विशेषार्थ :
श्लोक २०. कुसील लिंग-कुशील लिंग-अन्य धर्मावलम्बी का अथवा आचाररहित स्वधर्मावलम्बी का वेश धारण करना कुशील लिंग है।
