पक्ष प्रस्तुत करता है कि वह अपना भाग लेकर रहेगा, यह विनय का नाश है। धन न मिलने पर वह कपटपूर्वक धन हथियाने का षड्यंत्र रचता है और पूछे जाने पर स्वीकार नहीं करता, यह मित्रभाव का नाश है। इसी कारण लोभ को सर्वगुण नाशक कहा है। ELABORATION:
(38) Loho savvavinasano-greed destroys all; this has been explained in Jinadas Churni by giving an example. Greed drives a son against his loving and well wishing father; love is lost. When the son does not get what he wants, he assertively puts forth his claim saying that he will use force if necessary; humbleness is lost. When he does not get the wealth, he conspires to get it deceitfully; friendship is lost. That is why greed is said to be the destroyer of all virtues.
कषाय-शमन उपाय ३९ : उवसमेण हणे कोहं माणं मद्दवया जिणे।
मायं च अज्जवभावेण लोभं संतोसओ जिणे॥ उपशमभाव (शान्ति) से क्रोध का हनन करो, मार्दव (नम्रता) से मान को जीतो, ऋजुता (सरलता) से माया को एवं सन्तोष से लोभ को जीतना चाहिए॥३९॥ (देखें चित्र क्रमांक १७) .
WAYS TO SUBDUE PASSIONS
39. One should subdue anger with tranquillity, conceit with humbleness, deceit with simplicity and greed with contentment. (illustration No. 17)
विशेषार्थ : ___ श्लोक ३९. आचार्य श्री आत्माराम जी म. इसके अर्थ को स्पष्ट करते हुए कहते हैं"कल्याणकारी जीव को प्रथम तो इन कषायों के उदय होने का कोई कारण ही उपस्थित नहीं करना चाहिए तथापि यदि कभी इनके उदय होने के कारण बन ही जावें तो उपर्युक्त उपशमभाव, विनय, ऋजुता आदि उपायों का अवलंबन करके इनके उदय का निरोध और उदय प्राप्त को विफल कर देना चाहिए।"
