कषायों का दष्परिणाम
BAD CONSEQUENCES OF PASSIONS १. कोहो पीइं पणासेइ-क्रोध अग्नि का प्रतीक है। क्रोध का धुआँ उठता है तो प्रीति, प्रेम का वातावरण धुंधला पड़ने लगता है। ___1. Anger is like fire. When the fire of anger emits smoke it clouds the atmosphere of love and goodwill.
२. माणो विणयनासणो-अहंकारी स्तंभ की तरह कभी झुकता नहीं। अहंकार की कलुषित भावनाओं से विनय, नम्रता का नाश होने लगता है।
2. Conceit makes one unyielding like a pillar. The tarnishing feeling of conceit diminishes the purity of courtesy and humility. A conceited person displays a stubborn expression on his face.
३. माया मित्ताणि नासेइ-माया कपट में पर्दे की तरह दुराव-छिपाव रहता है। जहाँ कपट की कलुषता का धुआँ पहुँचता है वहाँ मित्रता या परस्पर में विश्वास का ताना क्षीण होने लगता है।
3. Deceit and guile are like a screen hiding antipathy within. The acid of guile eats into the fabric of friendship and mutual faith.
४. लोहो सव्व विणासणो-लोभी की आत्मा तिजोरी में बंद रहती है। इस लोकोक्ति के अनुसार लोभ भाव का प्रतीक तिजोरी व श्रेष्ठी दर्शाया है। लोभ की आग मनुष्य के नीति, सन्तोष, स्वाध्याय का प्रतीक पुस्तकें आदि सभी सद्गुणों को जला डालती है।
(अध्ययन ८, श्लोक ३७) 4. The soul of a greedy person is locked into his vault. Greed is shown as a merchant and his vault. The fire of greed consumes morality, contentment, knowledge, and other virtues symbolized by books in the illustration.
