उस पल्य मे से सौ सौ वर्ष के पश्चात् एक-एक बालाग्र निकालने पर जितने काल मे वह पल्य उन बालाग्रो से रहित, रजरहित और निर्लेप एव निष्ठित-पूर्ण रूप से खाली हो जाये, उतने काल को व्यावहारिक अद्धापल्योपम कहते है।
इन दस कोटाकोटि व्यावहारिक अद्धापल्योपमो का एक व्यावहारिक अद्धासागरोपम होता है ॥४॥ VYAVAHARIK ADDHA PALYOPAM

Vyavaharık Addha Palyopam is described as follows
For example there is a silo one yojan long, one yojan wide, one yojan high and with a circumference of a little more than three yojans That silo is filled to the brim with hair-tips grown in one day, two days, three days, up to a maximum of seven days (after shaving the head). The hair are tightly packed into a solid mass so that afterwards they cannot be burnt by fire or swept by air and are neither decayed, destroyed or putrefied. Now, Vyavaharık Addha Palyopam is the total time taken in completely emptying this silo by taking out one hair-tip at a time every hundred years and sweeping it clean and free from any sand particles, slime and even odour
Such ten kodakodi (1014) Vyavaharık Addha Palyopam make one Vyavaharık Addha Sagaropam (4) ____३८०. एएहिं वावहारिएहिं अद्धापलिओवम-सागरोवमेहिं किं पओयणं ?
एएहिं जाव नत्थि किंचिप्पओयणं, केवलं तु पण्णवणा पण्णविज्जति। से तं वावहारिए अद्धापलिओवमे। ___३८०. (प्र.) व्यावहारिक अद्धापल्योपम और सागरोपम का क्या प्रयोजन है ?
(उ.) व्यावहारिक अद्धापल्योपम एव सागरोपम से कोई प्रयोजन सिद्ध नही होता है। ये केवल प्ररूपणा के लिए हैं।
यह व्यावहारिक अद्धापल्योपम का स्वरूप है।
