पुद्गलसंघात ने 'अध्ययन' इस पद का व्याख्यान किया था, यावत् उपदर्शित किया था (वैसा यह शरीर ज्ञायकशरीरद्रव्य-अध्ययन है)।
(प्र.) इस विषय में कोई दृष्टान्त है ?
(उ.) (आचार्य ने उत्तर दिया) जैसे घडे में से घी या मधु निकाल लिए जाने के बाद भी कहा जाता है-यह घी का घड़ा था, यह मधुकुंभ था। (यह समस्त वर्णन द्रव्यावश्यक में पूर्व वर्णित सूत्र १४-१७ के अनुसार समझें।) ___ यह ज्ञायकशरीरद्रव्य-अध्ययन का स्वरूप है। ___541. (Q.) What is this Jnayak sharir dravya adhyayan (physical-adhyayan as body of the knower) ?
(Ans.) Jnayak sharir dravya adhyayan (physical-adhyayan as body of the knower) is explained thus : It is such a body of the knower of the purview of the meaning of Adhyayan that is dead, has been killed or has voluntarily embraced death. And seeing such a body someone utters-Oh ! This physical body was the instrument of learning Adhyayan (and so on up to...) and affirming it.
(Question asked by a disciple) Is there some analogy to confirm this?
(Answer by the guru) Yes, for example it is conventionally said that this was a pot of honey or this was a pot of butter even after its contents have been taken out. (details same as aphorism 14-17)

५४२. से किं तं भवियसरीरदव्यज्झयणे ? ____ भवियसरीरदव्वज्झयणे जे जीवे जोणीजम्मणनिक्खते इमेणं चेव आदत्तएणं
सरीरसमुस्सएणं जिणट्टेिणं भावेणं अज्झयणे त्ति पयं सेयकाले सिक्खिस्सति ण ताव सिक्खति। ___ जहा को दिदैतो ? ___ अयं घयकुंभे भविस्सति, अयं महुकुंभे भविस्सति। से तं भवियसरीरदब्वज्झयणे।
