World Jain Mission, Aliganj Etah. Jainism is a cosmopolitan religion; rather it is a science and way of life. The sacred disco urses of the blessed Tirtha. nkaras were addressed to Aryans and non-Aryans alike: even tbe beasts and birds hearkened to them and tried to live according to the lofty ideals of truth and Abinga preached by the Holy Ones. Thus Jainism is & world religion: Jain Tradition asserts its world wide prevalence in ancient times, but it is de plcrable that many mis-under-standings about Jainism are in vogue and our scholars are under the impression that Jainism was never carried abroad beyond the borders of India, because they think that Jainism has never been a proselitising religion and not B. single monument of Jainism has been found in any foreign country. Sometime ago we heard Sir Patrick Fagon, K.C.I.E., C.S.I., remarking in the session of the Conference of the Religions of the Empire ( Wembly Exhibition, London ) that “Jainism cannot claim to be a missionary religion like Buddbism."
