"Indeed these bave certain notable features, which wo miss in the others. Certain metbods of finding solution of rational triangles, the credit for the discovery of which should rigbtly go to Mabavira, are attributed by modren bistorians by mistake to writers posterior to bim.”
(e) Grammar: Jinendra-Dayakarna is a very fam. oue Jaip work on grammar. Panini-8abdavatara is another Jain grammatical work. Vopadeva counts it among the 8 original authorities on sanskrit grammar.
(f) Science: Jainism is parely a Scientific system, and tbe Jain Tirtbenkaras were the greatest Scientists bence Jainism is the greatest subject for tbe study of mod. ern sojenoe. Prof. Gbasiram bas ably explained Jain principles in full compliance of science in his Cosmology Old and New.
(g) Classification: According to Dr. Brajindra Natb Seal, "Jainacharya Sbri Umasvami's classification of animals is a good instance of classification by series, the number of sepsee possessed by the animal taken to determine its place in the series“.
(h) Atomic Theory: The most remarkable con. tribution of tbe Jaina relates to their analysis of atomic linking or the mutual attraction of atoms in the forma. tion of molecules.
(i) Medicine: Khagendra-Manidar pana is a Jain work on Medicine. Kalyanakaraka is another Jain treatise on medicine wbich long continued to be an authority on the subject with entirely a vegetarian and non-alcobolic treatment.?
