son. Müladeva was poor. So the mother of Devadattā was in favour of the rich marchant's son and against Müladeva. So there is a competition between the two to win Devdattā's love.
908. Bhoja cites this gāthā as an example of one of the dūtīs, female (love)
messengers, called for errf. Bhoja defines this çait in these words : 7RRY नायिकाया वा यथामनीषितमुपलभ्य स्वबुद्ध्या कार्यसंपादिनी निसृष्टार्था । तस्या: समग्रबुद्धिगुणयोगात् । - 1. 9. 9. 990.
Mammata cites this gāthā as an example of the figure 37TA14. 909. This gātha is already dealt with; vide ŚP S. No. (372.119) supra. Bhoja cites
it here as an alternative example of निसृष्टार्था दूती.
910. Bhoja cites this gāthā as an example of alaçat. He thus describes her:
प्रस्तुतार्थलिङ्गसंबद्धमन्यजनग्रहणीयार्थमलौकिकार्थं वातदूती । तत्र प्रस्तुतार्थलिङ्गसंबद्धं यथा - आसाइअं अणाएण, etc.
911. Bhoja cites this gatha as an example of अन्यजनग्रहणीयार्थं वातदूती. The वासकसज्जा (who
adorns herself for joy and awaits her lover in full dress) has waited for her lover the whole night; thereby (because of sleeplessness) her eyes are reddish and dull; she feels embarrassed because she has put on ornaments in vain; she feels ashamed of even her maiden friends! Her charming lover should take note of her condition and immediately go to her and appease her.
912. Bhoja cites this gāthā to illustrate urci localef (alaçant).
913. Bhoja cites this gāthā as an example of loft. It is double-meaning. The
apparent meaning is about pestle (m) but the hidden meaning is about (pestle-like) small organ. SK (p. 549) too quotes it to illustrate a variety of the figure if (3747 TCHETT). Bhoja thus comments upon it : 3791 - 1971 मुसलरूपस्योक्तत्वाद् इदमन्यभावनाभिधानं भाविकम् । - सरस्वती पृ. ५४९.
914. This gātha is already dealt with; vide ŚP S. No. (665.173) supra. Bhoja cites
it here as an example of wriçit. See translation.
915. Bhoja cites this gāthā as an alternative example of Huc.
