________________ Prakrit Verses in Sanskrit Works on Poetics 627 46. This gathā is cited by Sobhākara as an additional example of Vidhyābhāsa. The reading "lihia - pasattam' (likhita - prasaktam) is partly ambiguous. Vajjalagga (No. 366) reads "lihiya pasatthi' (likhitā prasastih). M. V. Patwardhan says in his Notes (p. 478): "Fallout stands for Fallout with 317 shortened metri causa. It looks almost like an Apabhraíba trait ---- Rent = yeffet : Unalterable mandate or rule (inscribed by Providence on the dicue-the forehead). gif is used here in the sense of URIRATI.e., 31151 order, command, mandate, inexorable destiny." On the sixth day after the birth of a child the Creator is supposed to enter the mother's chamber and write the child's destiny on its forehead. Here in this gātha it is Krtanta (Destiny or fate or Yama - the god of death) who is referred to. 47. This gātha is already dealt with; vide DHV S. No. (26.11) supra. Sobhākara cites this gāthā as an example of the figure Vidhyābhāsa. He remarks : अत्र त्यागिनो दारिद्यस्य दुष्टतरत्वप्रतिपादनायानिष्टस्यापि जन्मनो विधानम् । - पृ. ८८. 48. This gātha is already dealt wiht; vide A' Sarvasva S. No. (42.444) supra. Sobhakara cites it in the course of the treatment of the figure Vidhyābhāsa and comments on it thus :अत्र विलम्बस्वेति विहितस्यावस्थानस्येष्टस्य वस्तुनोऽथवेति निषेधाभासाद् वजेत्यनिष्टविधानात् किं भणाम इति भणितनिषेधाभासाचाक्षेपविध्याभासाक्षेपाणां सडूर : न तु भणितिनिषेधरूप आक्षेप एव । - पृ. ८८. The concluding statement is obviously directed against Ruyyaka. 49. Sobhākara cites this gātha as an example of his newly discovered figure Sandehābhāsa. He remarks; 37 GET AHETUERRIuretanicalaurT" PRI" SUTHTHA: VİCE: --- (9.c8). 50. Sobhākara cites this gātha in the course of his treatment of his new figure Vikalpabhāsa. अह may better be equated with असौ (or एषा). 51. This gātha is already dealt with; vide A' Sarvasva-Vimarsini S. No. (*44.445) supra. Sobhākara cites it as an example of the figure Vibhāvanā. 52. Sobhakara cites this gātha in the course of his treatment of the figure Višeşokti.
