________________ 648 Prakrit Verses in Sanskrit Works on Poetics कंदोढें नीलोत्पले देशी । धवलच्छाइ (धवलाच्छानि - धवलानि श्वेतवर्णानि च तान्यच्छानि प्रसन्नानि चेति)। पक्षे-धवलाक्षाणि धवलनेत्राणि (मुखानि) । पिबन्तीति मुखपक्षे उपचार : । मुख्यपानस्य द्रवद्रव्य एव संभवात् । 14.584. This skandhaka is cited to illustrate the figure Upamā (samāse śrauti dharma lupta). "विषौषधीव' इत्यत्र पक्षे इव पदेन सह समास: । अत्र सीताविषौषध्यो: साधर्म्यमनपात्तमर्थगम्यम् । 15.584. This skandhaka is cited here to illustrate the figure Upama (samase athi- . dharmaluptā). अत्र जायाकपोलसदृशानीति समास: । सदृशपदप्रयोगादार्थी । - Thus comments Visvesvara (Vrtti, p. 108). अग्घाइ (आघाति = आजिघति) smells; छिवइ (स्पृशति) (fondly) touches, caresses; हिअअम्मि ठवेइ (हृदये स्थापयति) - places on his heart, i.e., presses against his bosom; जणियरोमंचो (जनितरोमाञ्च:) he bristles (becomes horripilated, thrilled) all over his body). 16.584. This gāthā is already dealt with; vide KP S. No. (46.430) supra. Viśveśvara cites this gāthā as an illustration of Upamā (väkye ärthi upamāna-luptā). 17.584. This gātha is -already dealt with; vide ŚP S. No. (155.73) supra. Viśveśvara cites this gåtha as a proper example of Upamā (vākye årthi upamāna-luptā). 18.584. This skandhaka belongs to Setubandha (X.8). It is cited to illustrate द्योतक (= वाचक) - लुप्तोपमा समासे. Visvesvara comments : इह विद्रुमवत्ताम्रमिति 'उपमानानि सामान्यवचनैः' इति समासः । उपमावाचकस्य समासान्तर्गतत्वादप्रयोगः । अत्रोपमानधर्मयो: समास: I (Vrtti, pp. 117-118). 19.585. This gātha is already dealt with. vide DHV - Locana S. No. (* 28.11) supra. It is cited here to illustrate Upamā (dharmopamāna-luptă samase). Mammata too quotes this stanza in identical context. Visvesvara follows him. 20.585. This gāthā is already dealt with; vide ŚP S. No. (84.58) supra. Viśveśvara cites it here to illustrate Upamā (Vākye dharmopamāna-luptā). In the previous gatha "Dhumdhullamto -...", if we read mālai-kusumena samam' (mālati-kusumena samam), it will be an example of vakye
