સ્તક.
Nyāya-Kusumānjali. હતા કે “અગ્નિહોત્ર' સર્વદા કરવું જ જોઈએ. અને અગ્નિહોત્ર પાપ-પુણ્યમિશ્રિત હોવાથી મેક્ષનું કારણ ન થઈ શકતું હોવાને લીધે નિર્વાણુને અભાવ સિદ્ધ થાય છે. કિન્તુ આ અર્થ સત્ય નથી; કારણ કે વાસ્તવિક અર્થ તે એ છે કે વર્ષાભિલાષી જીવે સદા અગ્નિહોત્ર કરવું અને જે કંઈ મોક્ષાર્થી હોય તે અગ્નિહોત્ર છેડીને નિર્વાણુ સાધક ક્રિયા કરે. વળી પ્રાણીમાત્રની સ્થિતિની વિચિત્રતા જ્યારે કર્મને સાબિત કરે છે, તે પછી તે કર્મને શુદ્ધ જ્ઞાન, દર્શન, ચારિત્રથી ક્ષય કે ન્યાયયુકત હોવાથી મુકતની સિદ્ધિમાં કંઈ શંકા કરવા જેવું રહેતું નથી. આ પ્રકારની યુકિતઓ આપી તેમને પ્રભુએ નિઃસંદેહ કર્યા. તેમણે પણ પિતાના ત્રણસે છાત્રે સહિત દીક્ષા અંગીકાર કરી. આ પ્રમાણે ભગવાનના અગ્યાર ગણધરો થયા. भगवतोऽपवर्गपदप्राप्तिः
यः कारुण्यमहार्णवो मुनिमन:पाथोजहंसो* जगन्नेत्रानन्दकलाधरोऽखिलभवोपग्राहिकर्मक्षयात् । सिद्धार्थः खलु सर्वथा त्रिभुवनावासं विहाय क्षणात् तत्सद्ब्रह्मपरात्मना समभवत् तं वीरमन्तर्णये ॥ ६॥
I meditate upon Lord Mahavira, the great ocean of mercy, the swan seated in (or the sun in blossoming ) the lotus-like mind of sages and the moon in giving delight to the eyes of the people ) of the universe and who indeed in every way achieved his (spiritual) object by annihilating all, Karmans that bring about mundane existence and who, by leaving this world ( lit. by abandoning his stay in the three worlds ) bəcame within a
