अहिंसा ।
को धर्मः ? कस्वरूपकतया सद्भिः प्रपन्ना दया सा हिंसाप्रतिपक्षतामुपगता हिंसाsसुभाजो वधः । त्रस्यामोsसुखतो वयं हृदि यथा तादृक् परोऽप्यंगभा
गित्येवं परिवेत्ति यो न खलु स प्राणिप्रणाशं सृजेत् ॥ १ ॥
Religion, if defined in clear terms, means Daya which has been resorted to by great men. Daya is antagonistic to Ilimsa. Ilimsa means injury infli. cted upon a living being. He who realizes that just as we shudder owing to pain, so does another living being, will never commit Himsa, ( 1 )
