The Jain Image Inscriptions of Ahmadabad

This Panchatirthi bronze image of Sumatināth with parikar is preserved in Shantināth Temple in Devasha's Pado, near Calico Dome, Relief Road. This icon was made by Shre. Mahanaka, for the bliss of his parents. He belonged to Srimāla caste and was the inhabitant of Dhandhuka. This icon was made and installed by the preaching of Srī Madāhada gaccheśa Sri Hemarainasūri in V.S. 1488, Jyestha su.di. 1, Sukra (i.e. Friday, 2 May, 1432 A.D.). ॥ संवत १४८८ वर्षे ज्येष्ट(ष्ठ) सुदि १ शुक्रे घंधूकावास्तव्य श्री श्रीमाल ज्ञातीय श्रे. महणाकेन मातृपितृ श्रेयोर्थं श्रीसुमतिनाथादि पंचतीर्थीबिंबं श्री मडाहड गच्छेश श्रीहेमरत्नसूरीणामुपदेशेन कारितं । प्रतिष्टि[ष्ठि]तं च विधिना ॥

This bronze image of Vimalanāth is installed in Sambhavanāth Temple in Kameshwar Pole. It was installed by Somasundarasuri in V.S. 1188, Jyestha sudi.5, Shukra (i.e. Fri., 2 May, 1432 A.D.). This Bimba was donated by Dharmasimha for the bliss of his father. The week-day does not tally with the tithi. In that case the tithi may be read as 2 instead of 5. The date then would correspond to Friday, 2 May, 1432 A.D. संव. १४८८ वर्षे ज्ये. शु. ५. शुक्ले प्राग्वाटज्ञातीय व्य. सिंधा भार्या पाल्हणदे पुत्र धर्मसिंहेन भ्रातृदेवा भ्रातृ जमणोरसी भार्या रत्नादे सुत वीरमणोरादियुतेन पितृव्य वयरा श्रेयोर्थं श्री विमलनाथ बिंबं कारितं प्रतिष्टि[ष्टि]तं श्री सोममुंदरसूरिभिः ।
