૨૫. ઉષવદાત શક જાતિને હોઈ એને સસરો નહપાન અન્ય કઈ જાતિને હે જોઈએ એમ માની એ પહુલવ જાતિને હવાની અટકળ થઈ છે (Rapson, Catalogue, para 84;), પરંતુ શક જાતિનાં જુદાં જુદાં કુલ વચ્ચે લગ્ન સંબંધ જાતો જ નહિ હોય એમ માનવું અતિશયોક્તિભર્યું છે. શક જાતિને સ્થળવિસ્તાર અને એમની સંખ્યાવિપુલતા જોતાં એ જાતિમાં પરસ્પર લગ્નસંબંધ જી શકાય તેવાં પેટાજૂથ અર્થાત ગોત્ર રચાયાં હોય એ તદ્દન સંભવિત છે.
