There are many commentaries in vogue on the Chaityavandana Sutra. The oldest one among these commentaries is known as "Lalitavistra" whose compiler and composer is a great scholastic personality and almost able author of scriptures, Acharya Shri Haribhadrasuriswar. The importance of this commentary in Jainism and Jain scriptures is so great and famous that the author of the great story like "Upamiti Bhavapra Panch Katha". Acharya Sri Siddhasi Gani States as under. "He having know aptly the future, has created and composed the commentary (named) "Lalitavistra" restoring to Chaityavandana rite and thus has done a great benevolence to me" Justifying the above statement, Reverend Sri Munichandrasuri Maharaja, who has the preceptor of a great Acharya like Shri Vadi Devasuri renowned as most proficient lawyer in the royal court of Siddharaja Jayasinha, has composed a "Lighutika" (a brief commentary) on "Lalitavistra". In his preface he writes : "After studying the scripture composed by sugata, the sage Siddharsi, whose mind has become unsteady and who was, the crest Jewel" among all commentators, saw this and acquired enlightenment (Pratibodha). And then he looked upon the composer of this commentary as his preceptor and directed his salutation to him. Who is capable of explaining and expanding the meaning of that commentary ? Nevertheless, I am endeavouring for this task in order to test my memory." Chaitavandana is such religious rite as is knitted with the necessary day-today acts of a monk or a nun of by Sri Ganadhara gods. Glorifying this rite, the honourable authors of scriptures announce". Extraordinary, good results are acquired and the acts whose nature is to cover the virtues of knowledge and so on of soul get perished by bowing to the "Chaityas" (i. e. temples) of Sri Jineswara gods. The effect of bowing to the "Chaityas" is just contradictory to the effect of taking WS grand nomes - SSREF 4.
