અધ્યાત્મતવાલાક.
Notes:-In these three previous verses the auther vividly brings before our mind, the importance of harbouring and entertaining evil feelings and the futility of working maliciously against others. He says, in this phenomenal world ⟨Samsār ) everything as subject to the laws of Karma, i. e., to the consequences of our own actions in the present and the past lives. No one, even the Highest Power, can nullify the laws of Karma. So feelings of jealousy, hatred and malice at the rise and prosperity of others are not only useless but on the contrary they impel us to enter into fresh bondage of Karma. Consequently the destroying of the Karmic dirt is essential for our Spiritual rise whereby true and matchless happiness could be achieved. It is therefore necessary to direct our efforts towards the real goal.
ઈર્ષ્યા વિવેકના ઘાત કરનારી છે—
“ ખીજાની થતી ઉન્નતિને દેખી તું શા માટે ખેદ કરે છે? અને ખીજાની થતી હાનિને દેખી તું શા માટે ખુશી થાય છે ? તું તારા હૃદયમાં ગમે તેવા વિકા—મોટા વિચારો ઉભા કરે, પણ એ દુષ્ટ ભાવના ખીજાને અસર કરવાની નથી, અર્થાત્ તારા દુષ્ટ ચિન્તનથી ખીજાની થતી ઉન્નતિમાં અટકાવ થનાર નથી, કિન્તુ તે દુવિંકા ઉલટા તનેજ કરૂપ ફ્રાંસામાં બાંધી લેનાર છે.

હે મહાભાગ ! તું જે દુષ્ટ વિચારા અથવા દુષ્ટ પ્રયત્ના ખીજાની ઉન્નતિમાં હાનિ પહેાંચાડવા કરે છે, તે તારા દુષ્ટ વિચારી કે દુષ્ટ પ્રયત્ના બિલકુલ નિરક છે. એનાથી તને કાંઇ ફાયદા થનાર નથી, એ તારે ખૂબ સમજી રાખવું; કારણ કે તારા દુષ્ટ વિચારશ કે દુષ્ટ પ્રયત્નાથી ખીજાતી ઉન્નતિને ધક્કા પહોંચે યા ન પહોંચે, એ અને રીતેાથી તને કઇં વળવાનું નથી. એ માટે સન્તાપકારક દુવિકાને ત્યજી દે. ”—૭૮
