( 99 ) Has old age lost its sting? Is death gone from this world ? Are diseases impotent ? Is youth everlasting ? Will prosperity be permanent ? Why then have you completely abandoned yourself to worldly pleasures and felt quite secure ?
Notes. The author rightly proposes these questions the solution of which opens the eyes of the ignorant, to the true purpose of life. On proper reflection; old age, death and diseases will be found mavoidable and youth and prosperity as vanishing. With a clear understanding of these states, withdrawal from the sense-objects is the true path. શા માટે વિશ્વસતિ?—
શું જરાવસ્થા જીર્ણ થઈ ગઈ છે, શું મરણ ચાલ્યું ગયું છે, શું રોગે હણાઈ ગયા છે, શું યૌવન અવસ્થા સ્થિર રહેવાની છે ? અને શું સમ્પત્તિએ અલગ નહિ પડવાનું વચન આપ્યું છે કે જેથી વિષયરસમાં Mia's Na 2 82105 pa ? "-el शरीरसामध्ये सति पुरुषार्थः साधनीयःपद्विन्द्रियत्वे दृढमानसत्वे सुस्थे च देहे पुरुषार्थसिद्धौ । यतस्व, वार्धक्य उपागते तु किञ्चिन्न कर्तृ प्रभविष्यसि त्वम् ॥१०॥
( 100 ) So long as six senses can work, so long as mind is steady and so long as the body is sound, try to realise the ideal of life. In old age you will not be able to do anything.
