Those that have contributed hitherto appear to be genuinely intersted and painstaking scholars of Jaina Shastra The ideal of toleration which the journal has set before it is truly Jain and does every credit to its learned editor. journal useful to Jains and Non-Jains engaged in the study of Jainism.
The articles are suggestive of new lines of work which, I hope, will be taken up by distinguished Jainists all over the world. Of the innumerable difficulties in the way of the study of Jainism, the most harassing are the want of critical editions of Jain works in Sanskrit & Prakrit, and their authoritative translations in any modern language. Dictionaries and Encyclo. paedias collecting materials scattered over a vast field are badly required and a Jaina Catalogus catalogorum is au immediate necessity. I hope the Samantabhadrashama & the Anekanta will take up the compilation of these under your able guidance.
