___अर्हन्त अरिष्टनेमि के अठारह हजार श्रमणों का उल्लेख है। यह उनकी उत्कृष्ट श्रमण सम्पदा है। श्रमण भगवान महावीर ने संयम रक्षार्थ सक्षुद्रक व्यक्त श्रमणों अर्थात् सभी श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थों के अठारह स्थान कहे हैं। यथा -१-६. छह व्रत षट्क (हिंसादि पाँच पापों का तथा रात्रि-भोजन का यावज्जीवन सर्वथा त्याग), ७-१२. काय षट् (पृथ्वी आदि छह काया के जीवों की रक्षा करना), १३. अकल्प (वस्त्र, पात्र, भक्त-पानादि का त्याग), १४. गृहि भाजन (गृहस्थ के पात्र का उपयोग न करना), १५. पर्यङ्क (पलंगादि पर नही सोना), १६. निषद्या (स्त्री-संसक्त अर्थात् स्त्री के साथ एक आसन पर नहीं बैठना), १७. स्नान (स्नान न करना), १८. शरीर-शोभा-शृंगारादि नहीं करना।
It is mentioned that the number of the ascetics of omniscient of Lord Arishtnemi was eighteen thousand. It was the maximum ascetic wealth of Lord Arishtnemi. Lord Mahaviraha has described eighteen steps (sthans) of all the
unbound ascetics for the protection of their monk hood as :-1. Six vows sixer * (to renounce the five types of mundane activities related to violence etc. sins
throughout life permanently not to take meal after sunset). 2. Twelve bodies - sixer (to protect six types of living beings like earth-bodied beings etc.). 3.
Thirteen Akalp (to renounce food, liquid, cloths and utensils etc.). 4. Fourteen * utensils of a laity (not to use the utensils of the householder). 5. Fifteen Prayank
(not to sleep on cot etc.). 6. Sixteen Nishadhya (not to occupy the same seat on which the female is sitting means sitting with any female gender). 7. Seventeen Bath (not to bathe). 8. Eighteen (not to decorate the physical body in any form).
१२७-आयारस्स णं भगवतो सचूलियागस्स अट्ठारस पयसहस्साइं पयग्गेणं पण्णत्ता। चूलिका-सहित भगवद्-आचारांग सूत्र के पद-प्रमाण से अठारह हजार पद कहे गए हैं।
Including the verses of Chulika (annexure) the number of aphorisms of the 1st canon of Jainism namely Acharang Sutra are eighteen thousand.
१२८-बंभीए णं लिवीए अट्ठारसविहे लेखविहाणे पण्णत्ते, तं जहा-बंभी १, जवणालिया || २, दोसऊरिया ३, खरोट्टिया ४, खरसाविआ ५, पहाराइया ६, उच्चत्तरिआ ७, अक्खरपुट्ठिया
८, भोगवइता ९, वेणतिया १०, णिण्हइया ११, अंकलिवी १२, गणिअलिवी १३, गंधव्वलिवी [भूयलिवी] १४, आदंसलिवी १५, माहेसरीलिवी १६, दामिलिवी १७, वोलिंदलिवी १८।
ब्राह्मीलिपि के अठारह प्रकार के लेख-विधानों का उल्लेख है। यथा – १. ब्राह्मी लिपि, २. यावनी लिपि, ३. दोषउपरिका लिपि, ४. खरोष्ट्रिका लिपि, ५. खर-शाविका लिपि, ६. प्रहारातिका लिपि, ७. उच्चत्तरिका लिपि, ८. अक्षरपृष्ठिका लिपि, ९. भोगवतिका लिपि, १०. वैणकियालिपि, ११. निह्नविका लिपि, १२. अंक लिपि, १३. गणित लिपि, १४. गन्धर्व लिपि (भूतलिपि), १५. आदर्श लिपि, १६. माहेश्वरी लिपि, १७. दामि लिपि, १८. पोलिन्दी लिपि।
