ज्ञाताधर्म कथा की यह नवीं कथा इन्द्रिय-विषयों में लोलुपता के कारण कर्तव्यच्युत होने के टा र भंयकर परिणाम को प्रस्तुत कर संयम मार्ग पर एकाग्र रहने की प्रेरणा देती है। दो वणिक बंधुओं द 5 की व्यावसायिक यात्रा के आरंभ से ही मन की अनियंत्रित उड़ान के फल प्रस्तुत होने लगते हैं। र इन्द्रियाँ ठेलती हैं तो मन भागता है पर जब मन पर अंकुश लगता है तब इन्द्रियाँ स्वयं ही नियन्त्रण र में आ जाती हैं। दो भाइयों के आचरण की तुलनात्मक मार्मिक प्रस्तुति इस कथा की प्रेरक शक्ति द 5 को बढ़ा देती है। कथा की रूपक शैली उपनयगाथा से स्पष्ट होती है।

This ninth story of Jnata Dharma Katha inspires us to remain resolute on B the path of discipline by presenting the terrible consequences of neglecting K our duty for indulgence in sensual pleasures. Right from the commencement
of their journey the two merchant brothers have to face the consequences of the flights of their imagination. When the senses push, the mind runs around, but when mind is disciplined, the senses automatically follow suit. The comparison of the attitudes of two brothers enhances the strength of the 2 inspiration offered by this story. The allegorical style is revealed by the verses of the Message.

जह रयणदीवदेवी तह एत्थं अविरई महापावा। जह लाहत्थी वणिया तह सुहकामा इहं जीवा ॥१॥ जह तेहिं भीएहिं दिट्ठो आघायमंडले पुरिसो। संसारदुक्खभीया पासंति तहेव धम्मकहं ॥२॥ जह तेण तेसि कहिया देवी दुक्खाण कारणं घोरं। तत्तो च्चिय नित्थारो सेलगजक्खाओ नन्नत्तो॥३॥ तह धम्मकहा भव्वाण साहए दिट्ठअविरइसहावो ।
