नारद ऋषि का आगमन चित्र : २१
एक बार कच्छुल्ल नारद आकाशमार्ग से जाते हुए हस्तिनापुर के राजमहलों की छत पर आकर उतरे। ___ नारद ऋषि को आते देखकर पाण्डु राजा कुन्ती देवी तथा पाँचों पाण्डव उनके स्वागत के लिए सात-आठ कदम उठकर सामने आये।
द्रौपदी देवी महल में एक ओर बैठी रही।
नारद ऋषि ने समझा-"द्रौपदी देवी अपने रूप-यौवन व पाँच पाण्डवों की रानी होने के कारण अहंकार से गर्वित है, इसलिए मेरी अवहेलना तथा अपमान कर रही है। तो किसी प्रकार इसका दर्प भंग कर अनिष्ट करना चाहिए।" अपमान से कुपित हुए नारद प्रतिशोध की भावना से द्रौपदी देवी की तरफ देख रहे हैं। (सोलहवाँ अध्ययन)

One day King Kacchul Narad came flying to Hastinapur and landed on the roof top of the palace.
When they saw him coming King Pandu, the five Pandavs, and queen Kunti all stepped seven or eight paces forward to greet Narad.
But considering him to be indisciplined and non-ascetic Draupadi did not get up to greet him. She remained sitting.
Narad thought, “Oh! This Draupadi is filled with conceit for her beauty, youth and charm and also for being the wife of the five Pandavs. And so she does not respect or worship me. Therefore I will put her in a messy situation in order to teach her a lesson.” Driven by the feeling of vengeance Narad looks angrily at Draupadi.
