15 ज्ञाता धर्मकथा की यह उन्नीसवीं कथा शैलक राज की कथा के समान है। साधक के सुविधा
भोगी होकर साधना पथ से विमुख हो जाने के दुष्परिणाम को स्पष्ट करती है।

| उपनय गाथा वाससहस्सं पि जई, काऊणं संजमं सुविउलं पि। अंते किलिट्ठभावो, न विसुज्झइ कउरीयव्व ॥१॥ अप्पेण वि कालेणं, केइ जहा गहियसीलसामण्णा।
साहिति निययकज्ज, पुंडरीयमहारिसि व्व जहा ॥२॥ र कोई हजार वर्ष तक अत्यन्त विपुल-उच्चकोटि के संयम का पालन करे किन्तु अन्त में उसकी 5 15भावना संक्लेशयुक्त-मलीन हो जाए तो वह कंडरीक के समान सिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता॥१॥ र इसके विपरीत, कोई शील एवं श्रामण्य-साधुधर्म को अंगीकार करके अल्प काल में भी ड 5महर्षि पुंडरीक के समान अपने प्रयोजन को-शुद्ध आत्मस्वरूप की प्राप्ति के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त कर
लेते हैं॥२॥
