_सूत्र १४ : तए णं तस्स सालइयस्स तित्तकडुयस्स बहुनेहावगाढस्स गंधेणं बहूणि पिपीलिगा दी 15 सहस्साणि पाइन्भूयाइं। जा जहा य णं पिपीलिगा आहारेइ सा तहा अकाले चेव जीवियाओ
र ववरोविज्जइ। 15 तए णं तस्स धम्मरुइस्स अणगारस्स इमेयारूवे अज्झथिए जाव समुप्पिज्जत्था-'जइ ताव
र इमस्स सालइयस्स जाव एगमि बिंदुगंमि पक्खित्तंमि अणेगाइं पिपीलिगा सहस्साई ववरोविजंति, टा र तं जई णं अहं एयं सालइयं थंडिल्लंसि सव्वं निसिरामि, तए णं बहूणं पाणाणं भूआणं जीवाणंद 15 सत्ताणं वहकारणं भविस्सइ। तं सेयं खलु ममेयं सालइयं जाव गाढं सयमेव आहारेत्तए, मम चेव ।
र एएणं सरीरेणं णिज्जाउ' त्ति कटु एवं संपेहेइ, संपेहिता मुहपोत्तियं पडिलेहइ, पडिलेहित्ता 15 ससीसोवरियं कायं पमज्जेइ, पमज्जित्ता तं सालइयं तित्तकडुयं बहुनेहावगाढं बिलमिव द 15 पन्नगभूएणं अप्पाणेणं सव्वं सरीरकोटुंसि पक्खिवइ। र सूत्र १४ : उस कडवे साग की गंध से आकर्षित हो हज़ारों चींटियाँ वहाँ आ गईं। जिस-जिस ट] 5 चींटी ने वह साग खाया वह तत्काल वहीं मर गई। र यह देख धर्मरुचि अनगार के मन में विचार आया-'जब इस साग की एक बूंद डालने से टा र हज़ारों चींटियाँ मर गईं तो मैं यदि यह पूरा का पूरा साग इस भूमि पर डाल दूंगा तो अनेकों टा 5 प्राणियों, भूतों, जीवों व सत्वों के नाश का कारण उपस्थित हो जायेगा। अतः अच्छा यही होगा कि डा र यह साग मैं स्वयं ही खा जाऊँ। ऐसा करने से इसका प्रभाव मेरे शरीर पर होकर ही समाप्त हो । 2 जायेगा।" ऐसा विचार कर अनगार ने मुँहपत्ती की प्रतिलेखना की और फिर मस्तक सहित पूरे ए शरीर का परिमार्जन किया। तत्पश्चात् वह कटु सब्जी बिना स्वाद लिए ही, जिस प्रकार सांप सीधा टी 5 बिल में प्रवेश कर जाता है उसी प्रकार, निगल कर सीधे शरीर के कोठे-उदर में डाल दी।
14. Attracted by the smell of the bitter curry thousands of ants swarmed Kin. Whichever ant consumed that curry died on the spot. 5 When Ascetic Dharmaruchi saw all this he thought, "When just a drop of
this curry caused death of thousands of ants, if I throw away all this curry on the ground it would cause death of infinite number of living beings and life forms. It would be better if I myself eat all this curry. All its toxic effect will end after harming my body alone." And the ascetic did the ritual of inspecting the Muhapatti (the mouth-covering handkerchief used by Jain ascetics for various rituals) and cleaning of the body from head to feet. After
this he gulped all the curry without even tasting it, exactly as a snake 5 quickly slithers into its hole.
