उपसंहार
ज्ञाताधर्म कथासूत्र की यह चौदहवीं कथा सन्मार्ग की अभिलाषा और सन्मार्ग पर चलने के बीच बाधा स्वरूप प्रमाद को दर्शाती है। साथ ही प्रेरक निमित्ति का महत्त्व समझाती है । गुणवान होने पर भी, आंतरिक अभिलाषा होने पर भी सुख सुविधा में डूबे रहने का प्रमाद टूटता नहीं जब तक कि दुःख और निराशा का गहरा प्रहार प्रमाद के जाल को तोड़ नहीं देता और यथार्थ के दर्शन नहीं क़रा देता। और इस प्रहार का सर्जक होता है वह प्रेरक निमित्ति । एक बार प्रमाद टूटा कि राह प्रशस्त हुई।
This fourteenth story of Jnata Dharma Katha affirms that Pramaad (illusion and inaction) is the hurdle between the desire for and indulgence in spiritual endeavor. At the same time it also explains the importance of the inspiring cause. In spite of being virtuous and having spiritual inclinations the Pramaad of mundane comforts and pleasures does not break as long as the blow of sorrow and disappointment does not clear the fog and reveal the reality. This blow is given by the inspiring cause. The moment the fog is cleared the right path becomes visible.
CONCLUSION
प्रायः ऐसा होता है कि मनुष्य को जब तक दुःख प्राप्त नहीं होता या मान मर्दन नहीं होता तब तक वह भावपूर्वक धर्म का ग्रहण नहीं करता जैसे आमात्य तेतली पुत्र ॥ १ ॥

उपनय गाथा
" जाव न दुक्खं पत्ता माणब्धंसं न पाणिणो पायं । ताव न धम्मं गेण्हंति भावओ तेयलीसुउ व्व ॥ १ ॥”
It often happens that as long as man is not confronted by sorrow or his ego is not shattered he does not sincerely accept Dharma, as was the case with minister Tetaliputra. ( 1 )
