ज्ञाता धर्मकथासूत्र की यह बारहवीं कथा पदार्थ के वास्तविक रूप का दिग्दर्शन कराती है तथा दा र उस प्रणाली से परिचय कराती है जिससे वह वास्तविक रूप समझा जा सके। दुर्गन्धपूर्ण तथा स्वच्छ | 15 जल का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत कर एकान्तिक दृष्टिकोण की तुलना में अनेकान्तिक दृष्टिकोण की महत्ता दी र को पुष्ट किया है। इन सभी बातों से पदार्थ का परिवर्तनशील स्वभाव सहज ही समझ में आता है 5 र और परिवर्तनशील पदार्थ की एक स्थिति के प्रति मोह जनित आग्रह को त्यागने की भूमिका बनती टा 15 है। राग-द्वेष पर विजय पाने की दिशा में यह आवश्यक चरण इस कथा से गहन चिन्तन या चर्चा दा र के बिना सुगमता से बोधगम्य बन पड़ा है।

फरिहोदगं वा गुणिणो हवंति वरगुरुपसायाओ॥१॥ __ जिनका मन मिथ्यात्व के कारण मूढ़ बना हुआ है, जो पापों में अत्यन्त लिप्त हैं और गुणों से दा र शून्य हैं वे प्राणी भी श्रेष्ठ गुरु का प्रसाद पाकर गुणवान बन जाते हैं, जैसे खाई का गन्दा पानी डा ( शुद्ध व श्रेष्ठ जल बन गया॥१॥
