pouring water, wiped them dry with soft and tufted gray towels, adorned them with cloths and garlands, rubbed perfumes and sprinkled fragrant and coloured powders over them, and in the end burnt incense. After all these rituals she touched her knees to the ground, joined her palms and bowing she prayed, “If I give birth to a child I will do your worship with all prescribed rituals (etc.).”
Now Bhadra returned to the river bank, had her food and share of the auspicious offerings, washed her mouth and hands, and returned
home.
सूत्र ११. अदुत्तरं च णं भद्दा सत्थवाही चाउद्दसट्टमुद्दिट्ठपुनमासिणीसु विउलं असणपाण-खाइम-साइमं उवक्खडेइ, उवक्खडित्ता बहवे नागा य जाव. वेसमणा य उवायमाणी नमसमाणी जाव एवं च णं विहरइ।
तए णं सा भद्दा सत्थवाही अन्नया कयाइ केणइ कालंतरेणं आवन्नसत्ता जाया यावि होत्था। __ सूत्र ११. इसके बाद भद्रा प्रत्येक चतुर्दशी, अष्टमी, अमावस्या और पूर्णिमा के दिन प्रचुर मात्रा में अशनादि आहार सामग्री तैयार करती और इसी प्रकार पूजादि कर भोग चढ़ाती और मन्नत मानती।
कुछ समय बीतने पर भद्रा गर्भवती हो गई।
11. On eighth, fourteenth and fifteenth day of every fortnight of the lunar calendar, Bhadra repeated the above detailed rituals of worship and prayer.
After some days Bhadra became pregnant. दोहद __ सूत्र १२. तए णं तीसे भद्दाए सत्थवाहीए दोसु मासेसु वीइक्कतेसु तइए मासे वट्टमाणे इमेयारूवे दोहले पाउब्भूए-"धन्नाओ णं ताओ अम्मयाओ जाव कयलक्खणाओ ताओ अम्मयाओ, जाओ णं विउलं असण-पाण-खाइम-साइमं सुबहुयं पुष्फ-वत्थगंध-मल्लालंकारं गहाय मित्त-नाइ-नियग-सयण-संबंधि-परियण-पहिलियाहि य सद्धिं संपरिवुडाओ रायगिहं नगरं मझमझेण निग्गच्छति। निग्गच्छित्ता जेणेव पुक्खरिणी तेणेव उवागच्छंति। उवागच्छित्ता पोक्खरिणिं ओगाहिंति, ओगाहित्ता ण्हायाओ कयबलिकम्माओ सव्वालंकारविभूसियाओ विपुलं असण-पाण-खाइम-साइम आसाएमाणीओ जाव पडिभुजेमाणीओ दोहलं विणेन्ति।"
