काठावेह पुरिससहस्स-वाहिणीओ सीयाओ दुरुढा जाव पाउब्भवह। तए णं ते छप्पिय
बालवयंसए जाव पाउब्भवंति।" __ सूत्र ८. काल के उसी भाग में इन्द्रकुम्भ उद्यान में धर्मघोष स्थविर पधारे। परिषद निकली। धर्म सुनकर वैराग्य जागने पर महाबल राजा ने कहा-“हे देवानुप्रिय ! मैं अपने
छह बाल मित्रों से परामर्श कर लेता हूँ और कुमार बलभद्र को सिंहासनारूढ़ कर देता हूँ | फिर आकर आपसे दीक्षा ग्रहण करूँगा।" ___ फिर महाबल ने अपने छहों बाल मित्रों से पूछा। उन्होंने कहा-“देवानुप्रिय ! यदि तुम दीक्षा ले लेते हो तो हमारा कोई आधार नहीं रहेगा। ऐसे में हम भी दीक्षा लेंगे।" ___महाबल ने उन्हें कहा-“देवानुप्रियो, यदि तुम भी मेरे साथ दीक्षा लेना चाहते हो तो | पहले अपने-अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्रों को राज्य सौंपो और तब पुरिससहसवाहिनी शिविका पर | सवार होकर मेरे पास लोटो।"
INITIATION OF MAHABAL
8. During that period of time senior ascetic Dharmaghosh arrived and stayed in the Indrakumbh garden. A delegation of citizens led by the king came to attend the discourse of the ascetic. After listening to the preaching when king Mahabal felt like renouncing the world he said, “Beloved of gods! I will go and consult my six childhood friends as well as crown prince Balbhadra, and then come back to get initiated into the order by you."
Mahabal went and conveyed his decision to his friends and asked | their opinion. They said unanimously, “Beloved of gods! If you renounce the world we will be left with no support. As such, we would also like to get initiated.”
Mahabal replied, “Beloved of gods! If you too want to get initiated with me, first of all hand over your kingdoms to your heirs-apparent and come back to me riding the Purisasahassa palanquins." ___ सूत्र ९. तए णं से महब्बले राया छप्पिय बालवयंसए पाउडभूए पासइ, पासित्ता हट्ठतुढे कोडुबियपुरिसे सद्दावेइ, जाव बलभदं कुमारं अभिसिंचेति।
सूत्र ९. अपने मित्रों के वापस लौटने पर महाबल राजा प्रसन्न हुआ। फिर उसने अपने | पुत्र बलभद्र कुमार का समारोह सहित राज्य अभिषेक कर दिया।
