सूत्र ५३. तए णं सा णावा विमुक्कबंधणा पवणबलसमाहया उस्सियसिया विततपक्खा इव गरुडजुवई गंगासलिल-तिक्खसोयवेगेहिं संखुब्भमाणी संखुब्भमाणी उम्मी-तरंग-मालासहस्साइं समतिच्छमाणी समतिच्छमाणी कइवएहिं अहोरत्तेहिं लवणसमुदं अणेगाइं जोयणसयाई ओगाढा।
सूत्र ५३. पवन के धक्के से वह नाव चल पड़ी। सफेद पाल चढ़ी वह नाव ऐसी लगती थी जैसे पंख फैलाए कोई युवा गरुड़ी उड़ रही हो। गंगा नदी के तीव्र प्रवाह से वेग प्राप्त कर सहनों छोटी-बड़ी लहरों को पार करती वह नाव कुछ ही दिनों में लवण समुद्र में कई सौ योजन दूर चली गई।

सूत्र ५४. तए णं तेसिं अरहन्ननगपामोक्खाणं संजत्तानावावाणियगाणं लवणसमुदं अणेगाइं जोयणसयाइं ओगाढाणं समाणाणं बहूई उप्पाइयसयाई पाउब्भूयाइं। तं जहा__ सूत्र ५४. इतनी दूर समुद्र में आ जाने पर अर्हन्नक तथा उसके सहयात्रियों को अनेक उत्पातों का सामना करना पड़ा।
