सूत्र ३१. तए णं मल्ली मणिपेढियाए उवरिं अप्पणो सरिसियं सरिसत्तयं सरिसव्वयं सरिस - लावन्न - जोव्वण- गुणोववेयं कणगमई मत्थयच्छिड्डं पउमुप्पलप्पिहाणं पडिमं करेइ, करिता जं विपुलं असणं पाणं खाइमं साइमं आहारेइ, तओ मणुन्नाओ असण- पाणखाइम - साइमाओ कल्लाकल्लिं एगमेगं पिंडं गहाय तीसे कणगमईए मत्थयच्छिड्डाए जाव पडिमा मत्थयंसि पक्खिवमाणी विहरइ ।

सूत्र ३१. मल्लीकुमारी ने तब अपनी अनुकृति की, समान त्वचा, समवय, समान लावण्य, यौवन, और गुणयुक्त सोने की एक समाकार मूर्ति बनवाकर उस चौकी पर रखवाई। इस खोखली मूर्ति के मस्तक पर एक छेद था और उस पर कमल का ढक्कन । मल्लीकुमारी प्रतिदिन जो स्वादिष्ट भोजन करती उसमें से एक ग्रास नित्य मस्तक के छेद से उस मूर्ति में डालने लगी।
31. Now Princess Malli arranged for a life-size statue, an exact replica of her own self in gold, and got it installed on the pedestal. This idol resembled her in all parameters including skin-tone, age, charm, youth, and other attributes. It was a hollow idol with a hole at the top and it was covered with a lotus. Princess Malli started dropping one handful of the rich food she ate into the hollow idol through this hole every day.
सूत्र ३२. तए णं तीसे कणगमईए जाव मत्थयछिड्डाए पडिमाए एगमेगंसि पिंडे पक्खिप्पमाणे पक्खिप्पमाणे पउमुप्पलपिहाणं पिइ । तओ गंधे पाउब्भवइ, से जहानामए अहिमडेइ वा जाव चेव अमणामतराए ।
सूत्र ३२. मूर्ति के भीतर नित्य भोजन डालकर वह छेद कमल के ढक्कन से बन्द कर देती। इससे उसमें से ऐसी अप्रिय और भीषण दुर्गन्ध निकलने लगी जिसकी तुलना में सर्प आदि मृत जीवों के सड़े शरीर से निकलती गंध भी कुछ नहीं थी ।
32. She would close the hole with the lotus-lid after dropping the food. After a few days it started emitting a stench that was much more foul and obnoxious even as compared with that emitted by putrefied dead bodies.
