"Sudarshan! The religion I preach is known as cleansing based religion. The cleansing is said to be of two types-physical cleansing and spiritual cleansing. The physical cleansing is done with the help of water and sand and the spiritual one with the help of grass or coconut and mantra. O Beloved of gods! According to our tenets anything that becomes impure is first rubbed with sand and then washed with pure water. This process turns impure into pure. Similarly a being purifies its soul by annointing or taking bath with water and crossing every hurdle reaches the heaven."
Pleased with this discourse Sudarshan embraced the cleansing based religion of Shuk. He started giving ample food, cloths, and other things as alms to Parivrajaks. After some time Shuk Parivrajak left Saugandhika and started wandering in other populated areas.

सूत्र ३१. तेणं कालेणं तेणं समए णं थावच्चापुत्ते णामं अणगारे सहस्सेणं अणगारेणं सद्धिं पुव्वाणुपुवि चरमाणे, गामाणुगामं दूइज्जमाणे, सुहंसुहेणं विहरमाणे जेणेव सोगंधिया नयरी, जेणेव नीलासोए उज्जाणे, तेणेव समोसढे ।
परिसा निग्गया । सुदंसणो वि णिग्गए । थावच्चापुत्तं नामं अणगारं आयाहिणं पयाहिणं करेइ, करित्ता वंदइ, नमसइ, वंदित्ता नमंसित्ता एवं वयासी - तुम्हाणं किंमूलए धम्पन्नत्ते ?
तए णं थावच्चापुत्ते सुदंसणेणं एवं वुत्ते समाणे सुदंसणं एवं वयासी - " सुदंसणा ! विणमूले धम्मे पण्णत्ते से वि य विणए दुविहे पण्णत्ते, तं जहा - अगारविणए य अणगारविणए य। तत्थ णं जे से अगारविणए से णं पंच अणुव्वयाई, सत्तसिक्खावयाई, एक्कारस उवासगपडिमाओ ।

तत्थ णं जे से अणगारविणए से णं पंच महव्वयाइं पन्नत्ताई, तं जहा - सव्वाओ पाणाइवायाओ वेरमणं, सव्वाओ मुसावायाओ वेरमणं, सव्वाओ अदिन्नादाणाओ वेरमणं, सव्वाओ मेहुणाओ वेरमणं, सव्वाओ परिग्गहाओ वेरमणं, सव्वाओ राइभोयणाओ वेरमणं, जाव मिच्छादंसणसल्लाओ वेरमणं, दसविहे पच्चक्खाणे, बारस भिक्खुपडिमाओ, इच्चे णं दुविहेणं विणयमूलए णं धम्मेणं अणुपुव्वेणं अट्ठकम्मपगडीओ खवेत्ता लोयग्गपइट्ठाणे भवति ।
