भिन्नमुट्ठिप्पमाणे मऊरीअंडए पसवइ। पसवित्ता सए णं पक्खवाए णं सारक्खमाणी संगोवेमाणी संविटेमाणी विहरइ। __ सूत्र ३. उस उद्यान के उत्तर में एक जगह मालुका झाड़ियों अर्थात् तुलसी की झाड़ियों का झुरमुट था (पूर्व सम)। इस झुरमुट में एक वनमयूरी ने, एक के बाद एक, दो अंडे दिये। ये दोनों अंडे पोली मुट्ठी जितने बड़े और चावलों के ढेर जैसे सफेद (उज्ज्वल) थे, किसी भी विकार या दोष से रहित थे। अंडे देने के बाद वह मयूरी अपने पंखों की हवा से अंडों की रक्षा करती, सार-सँभाल करती, पोषण करती वहाँ रहती थी। PEA-HEN EGGS
3. At the north end of that garden was a thicket of black Tulsi plants (details as before). In this, a wild pea-hen had laid two eggs one after the other. These eggs were of the size of a loose fist, brilliant white like a heap of rice, and faultless. After laying the eggs the peahen blew air over them with its wings and protected, nurtured and hatched them.
सूत्र ४. तत्थ णं चंपाए नयरीए दुवे सत्थवाहदारगा परिवसंति; तं जहा-जिणदत्तपुत्ते य सागरदत्तपुत्ते य सहजायया सहवड्डियया सहपंसुकीलियया सहदारदरिसी अन्नमन्नमणुरत्तया अन्नमन्नमणुव्वयया अन्नमन्नच्छंदाणुवत्तया अन्नमन्नहियइच्छियकारया अन्नमन्नेसु गिहेसु किच्चाई करणिज्जाइं पच्चणुभवमाणा विहरंति।
सूत्र ४. चम्पा नगरी में दो सार्थवाहपुत्र रहते थे। एक था जिनदत्त का पुत्र और दूसरा सागरदत्त का पुत्र। वे दोनों एक साथ जन्मे, खेले, और बड़े हुए थे। दोनों का विवाह भी एक साथ ही हुआ था। दोनों में आपस में परम स्नेह था। जहाँ एक जाता वहीं दूसरा भी जाता था। सभी काम एक-दूसरे की सलाह से करते थे, एक-दूसरे की इच्छा के विरुद्ध कोई भी काम नहीं करते थे। यहाँ तक कि परस्पर एक-दूसरे के घर-परिवार के कार्य भी कर दिया करते थे। ___4. In Champa lived two sons of two merchants. One was Son-ofJinadatta and the other Son-of-Sagardatta. Both were born, had played around and were brought up together. They were married also around the same time. They both loved each other very much. Where one went, the other followed. Whatever they did was with mutual consent and none of them ever went against the other's wish. They were so close that they would even look after each other's family affairs.
