103 230. Similarly, the whole universe being the effect of the real Brahman is in reality nothing but Brahman. Its essence is That, and it does not exist apart from It. He who says 'it is', is still under delusion,—he babbles like' one asleep.

ब्रह्मवेदं विश्वमित्येव वाणी
श्रौती ब्रूतेऽथर्वनिष्ठा परिष्ठा। तस्मादेतद्ब्रह्ममात्रं हि विश्वं
नाधिष्ठानाद्भिन्नताऽरोपितस्य ॥ २३१॥ 231. This universe is verily Brahmansuch is the august pronouncement of the Atharva Veda. Therefore this universe is nothing but Brahman,-for that which is superimposed (on something) has no separate existence from its substratum.
