VIVEKACHUDAMANI
meditating on the truth of the Paramâtman, attains to It, through his one-pointed devotion to That.
अतीव सूक्ष्मं परमात्मतत्त्वं
न स्थूलद्वष्ट्या प्रतिपतमर्हति ।
समाधिनात्यन्तसुसूक्ष्मवृत्त्या
ज्ञातव्यमार्य रतिशुद्धबुद्धिभिः ॥ ३६० ॥
360. The truth of the Paramatman is extremely subtle, and cannot be reached by the gross outgoing tendency of the mind. It is only accessible to the noble souls with perfectly pure minds, by means of Samâdhi brought on by an extraordinary fineness of the mental state.
यथा सुवर्णं पटुपाकशोधितं
त्यक्ता मलं स्वात्मगुणं समृच्छति ।
तथा मनः सत्त्वरजस्तमोमलं

ध्यानेन सन्त्यज्य समेति तत्त्वम् ॥ ३६१ ॥
361. As gold purified by thorough heating on the fire gives up its impurities and attains to its own lustre, so the mind, through meditation, gives up its impurities of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, and attains to the reality of Brahman.
