( the great). You are Brahma, the manifest, as you are associated with Him. You are Vák, through your knowledge you are the mother of the universe and proof of Brahma.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। हे सरस्वति ! त्वं माया आदिमा इन्द्रशक्तिः, “इन्द्रो मायाभिः पुरुरूप ईयते" (ऋ. म. ६-४७-१८) इति मन्त्रवर्णात् ॥ अत एव प्रथमा माता प्रमात्री वागेव, तस्मात् चिता चेतनाशक्त्या तत् परं ब्रह्म प्रति मिमीषे स्वमानेन प्रमाणभूतेन, अभिधा अभिधया ब्रह्म इति तत्सझया प्रमाणयसीति ॥ अतः त्वं प्रत्यक्षं ब्रह्मैव सती तेन परमेण ब्रह्मणा सम्मिता तत्समाना, सा वागेव ब्रह्मणः विदा संविदे च माता प्रमात्री, तथा विश्वस्य अस्य जगतः योनि: कारणभूता प्रसवित्री माता इति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Sarasvati! you are Maya, the first Indrasakti. Cf. “ Indra moves in many forms on account of his Maya" ( Rg. VI-47-18). Therefore, she is the first measurer of all things. With your animation or expressive power (Adiśakti ) you measure Him as you are as big as He and you name Him as Brahma. Therefore, you are indeed Brahma, the manifest and as such you are equated with Him. It is through Vak only that we can measure Brahma. Likewise, she is the originator and mother of this universe.
चतुर्थी ऋक् । सरस्वति त्वं सती ब्रह्म साक्षात् परमन्तर्हित ब्रह्म प्रज्ञानं त्वयि ॥ आविरभूत् तद् वाचो विश्वथा ब्रह्म
वाग् विदा माता विश्वस्य ब्रह्मणो योनिः ॥४॥ पदपाठ :- सरस्वति । त्वम् । सती । ब्रह्म । साक्षात् ।
