अमुम् । मरुत्सऽयुजम् । इन्द्रम् । ब्रह्मणा ।
वाचा । तपसा। उपऽवसन् । प्र । पद्ये ॥ Salutations to you, Oh Indra, the lord of all mantras, who moves as sound in the mid-air, with the strength of lightning. This Indra is united with the Maruts. I attain him by fasting, by speech, by mantra and by tapas.
अन्वयभाष्यम् । हे इन्द्र ! देव ! ब्रह्मणः सर्वस्यापि वेदस्य वागरूपस्य अधिपते ! विद्युत: ज्योतिषः सहसा बलेन अन्तरिक्षे स्वस्थाने स्वरते शब्दायमानाय इन्द्राय ते नमः अस्तु । अमुं विप्रकृष्टं सन्तं मरुत्सयुजं मरुद्गणेन सह युक्तं इन्द्रं ब्रह्मणा मन्त्रेण वाचा आत्मन्यन्तर्हितया उपवसन् निर्विषयः सन् तेन वाक्प्रवृत्तिरहितेन अनशनेन मौनव्रतरूपेण तपसा सम्प्रपद्ये अन्तनिष्ठया प्राप्नोमीति ||
____ COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Indra, lord of all Vedas, salutations to you, who with the power of lightning move with sound in your own region. I attain you by abstinence from sense-objects. Indra is united with the Maruts. I attain him by the vow of silence, and by internal restraint.
चतुर्थी ऋक् । नमस्ते अग्ने देव होतविश्पते तेजसाऽन्तः पृथिव्यां प्रति ज्वलते || इमं वैश्वानरं हविषा ब्रह्मणा
वाचा यजेऽहमुपवसन प्रपद्ये ॥४॥ पदपाठः - नमः । ते । अग्ने । देव । होतः। विश्पते ।
तेज॑सा । अन्तः । पृथिव्याम् । प्रति। ज्वलंते ॥ इमम् । वैश्वानरम् । हविषा । ब्रह्मणा। वाचा । यजे । अहम् । उपऽवसन् । प्र। पद्ये ॥
Salutations to you, Oh Agni, who are the priest and the lord of the people. You are blazing with light on the earth. I attain this Vaišvånara by offering oblations, by mantras and speech, I attain him by restraint of senses and meditation.
