छन्दोदर्शनम
Oh Sarasvati ! you are the manifest Brahma and Brahma is contained in you as Prajñāna, profound wisdom. Brahma manifested Himself in omnifarious forms through you. You are Vak, the mother of the universe and proof of Brahma.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। ___हे सरस्वति ! त्वं साक्षात् ब्रह्मैव सती राजसे इति शेषः ॥ अत एव प्रज्ञानरूपं तत् परं ब्रह्म त्वयि वाक्सत्त्वायां अन्तर्हितम् गुप्ततया प्रतिष्ठितम् , तस्मात् त्वत्तः वाचः पराशक्तेः सकाशात् विश्वथा विश्वरूपेण तद् ब्रह्म स्वयं आविरभूत् सृष्टेः आदितः प्रादुर्बभूव इति तस्मात् हे वाक् ! सा त्वं ब्रह्मणो माता तदाविर्भावहेतुत्वात् , तथा तस्य विदातत्प्रज्ञानाय साधनभूतत्वात् , तथैव विश्वस्यापि जगतः त्वं योनिः प्रसवित्री इति ॥
COMMENTARY--SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Sarasvati ! you are Brahma Himself and you shine as such. Therefore, Brahma, the great shines in and through you. He is hidden in you as profound wisdom. Therefore, through you, the invisible Vak, he manifests Himself as the manifold universe at the beginning of creation. It is Vak only that can be the measure of Brahma because it is through Vāk that He manifested Himself and again it is through her instrumentality as profound wisdom that He can be realised. Likewise, she is the mother of the universe.
पञ्चभी ऋक् । सरस्वति त्वं विश्वस्यास्य प्रसूत्यै तद् वृणुषे ब्रह्म पूरुषं पतिम् ॥ संविदा स्वं भावयसि प्रतिरूपं
वाग विदा माता विश्वस्य ब्रह्मणो योनिः ॥ ५ ॥ पदपाठ :- सरस्वति । त्वम् । विश्वस्य | अस्य । प्रऽसूत्यै ।
तत् । वृणुषे । ब्रह्म । पुरुषम् । पतिम् ॥ सम्ऽविदा । स्वम् । भावयास । प्रतिऽरूपं ।
वाक् । विदा । माता । विश्वस्य । ब्रह्मणः । योनिः ॥ Oh Sarasvati! to give birth to this universe, you accept Brahma, the pervader, as your Lord. By your intelligence you know Him as being like yourself. You are the mother of this universe and proof of Brahma.
