COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh milch cows, may your milk which is pleasant, full of Sattva guna and of the essence of Ambrosia, help the promotion of goodwill in us, so that it may incline towards doing good only. May it invoke Soma, the presiding deity of mind, to purify this essence of Pancha gavya. The Rshi consecrates with this mantra the milk collected for promoting divine consciousness.
पञ्चमी ऋक् । यदिन्द्रियमिन्द्रहव्यं गव्य दधि संस्कृतं नः |
इन्द्रो बलेन समस्मिन्नादधातु पुनः प्राणान् ॥ ५॥ पदपाठः – यत् । इन्द्रियम् । इन्द्रऽहव्य॑म् । गव्य॑म् । दधि । सम्ऽकृतम् । नः ।
इन्द्रः । बलेन । सम् । अस्मिन् । आ । दधातु । पुनरिति । प्राणान् ॥
May Indra infuse strength into the curds which are prepared for us, curds which strengthen all senses, and curds which are associated with Indra.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। हे गावः ! यत् खलु इन्द्रियं चक्षुरादि सर्वेन्द्रियमूलभूतस्य प्राणसत्त्वस्य अनुग्राहकं तेजः, अथो अपि च ऐन्द्र इन्द्रदैवत्यं गव्यं दधि नः अस्मदर्थं संस्कृतं आतञ्चनेन घनीभावसम्पन्नमस्ति | " आप्यायध्वमघ्न्या इन्द्राय भागम् " ( शु. य. सं. १.१ ) इति यजु:, “ऐन्द्रं दध्यमावास्यायाम्" इति च दनः इन्द्रदेवताकत्वे वचनम्, “इन्द्रियं वा एतदस्मिल्लोके यद्दधि, यद्दनाऽभिषिञ्चति इन्द्रियमेवास्मिस्तद्दधाति" (ऐ.बा.) इति च ब्राह्मणानुवचनम् | अस्मिन् पञ्चगव्ये मेलनार्थं गृहीते अस्मिन् दनि इन्द्रः प्राणाधिदेवतात्मा बलेन स्वेन सुवीर्येण वैद्युतेन तेजसा पुन: प्राणान् स्वसत्त्वभूतान् आदधातु पूरयतु इति, अत्र " ऐन्द्रः प्राणो अङ्ग अङ्गे विबोध्यत्' (तै.), " इन्द्रो मे बले श्रित:" (तै.) इत्यादीनि प्रमाणवचनानि उदाहरणीयानि || अनया ऋचा तत् संस्कृतं संसिद्धं दधि द्रव्यं ऋषि: अभिमन्त्रयते, दिव्यभावाय ||
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION
Oh cows, curds contain the power which blesses all the senses such as the eyes etc. with vital power. It is associated with Indra. Curds for us are prepared well by making them hard by putting coagulating matter. Into the curds taken for mixing in the Pañcha Gavya, may Indra, the presiding deity of Präņas, pour his vital power with the strength of lightning.
With this mantra, the Rshi consecrates the curds.
