this universe, so that we may get all the energy for our life. May these waters protect this body also for the purpose of realising the truth.
अष्टमी ऋक् । नमस्ते गङ्गे यमुने सरस्वति समापो मातरो मळयत मह्यम् || विश्वं ममैनो वहत ज्योतिषाऽऽत्मन्
दर्शयत ज्योतिर्विश्वस्य दर्शयत् ॥ ८ ॥ पदपाठः – नमः । ते । गङ्गे । यमुने । सरस्वति ।
सम् । आपः । मातरः। मळयत । मह्यम् ॥ विश्वम् । मम । एनः । वहत । ज्योतिषा । आत्मन् ।
दर्शयत । ज्योतिः। विश्वस्य । दर्शयत् ।। Oh Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati, salutations to you. May you all bless me, oh Water-deities. May you wash away all my sins and purify me. Show me the light which illumines the whole universe.
अन्वयभाष्यम् । हे गङ्गे! यमुने! सरस्वति ! भवत्यः रसवत्यः विश्वप्राणसञ्जीवनसत्त्वरसपूर्णाः सौमनस्याः सन्मानससत्त्वरसप्रदा: दिव्यसोमरससत्त्वस्वरूपाः हे मातरः ! आपः ! युष्मभ्यं नमः अस्तु | यूयं स्वेन दिव्यरसेन विश्वं मळयत सुखयत, मम विश्वं एनः दोषजातं ज्योतिरात्मनि वहत, मां निर्मूजत शुद्धसत्त्वं सम्भावयत, अन्तरात्मनि ज्योतिषा स्वकीयेन विश्वस्य दर्शयत् प्रकाशकं तत् परमं ज्योतिः दर्शयत पवित्रीकरणेन तत्साक्षात्कारपात्रं मां कुरुत इति भाव: ॥
॥ इति सप्तमेऽनुवाके तृतीयं अप्सूक्तम् समाप्तम् ||
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION You are Rasavatyaḥ ( full of essence ); you have the power of reviving the whole universe; you are capable of blessing your devotees with goodwill, and you contain in yourselves the heavenly life giving Soma rasa. Oh! Water-mothers, salutations to you. May you delight the universe with your heavenly essence. By Tapas, may you purify me. Within the self, with your light, show me the supreme light which illumines the whole universe. That is, by purifying me, make me worthy of realising it.
Thus ends the Third Hymn in the Seventh Section.
