पदपाठः - अयम् । वाचा । आऽदिशति । ब्रह्म । ब्रह्मणा ।
अयम् । वाचम् । दे॒वीम् । ब्रह्मणे । दिशति ॥ सम्ऽविदा । आत्मानम् । आत्मने । आऽदिशतीम् । अयम् । जायाम् । पतिः। अश्नोति । वाचम् ॥
This individual soul indicates the Brahma by words in the form of mantra. The soul then offers the heavenly goddess of speech ( mantra ) to Brahma. The soul with all the intelligence at his command offers the mantra to the Supreme soul. Brahma accepts that mantra as his own just as a husband accepts his wife.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। अयं आत्मा अन्तः पुरुषः साक्षात्कृतात्मा च वाचा परया स्वार्धात्मिकया स्वस्य वाचकशक्तिरूपया सह ब्रह्मणा मन्त्रमुखेन च ब्रह्म स्वानुभूतं शब्दमुखेन सामान्यत: विदितं वा तत् परं वस्तु दिशति परस्मै प्रतिबोधयति, तथा सः अयं आत्मा वाचं तां स्वार्थावबोधिनी देवीं दिव्यां ब्रह्ममयीं ब्रह्मणे परस्मै ब्रह्मात्मने दिशति दर्शयति स्वात्मसमर्पणपरां समर्पयति, ब्रह्मात्मकृते निजां वामपां तनूं समर्पयतीति भावः, एवं सविदा ज्ञानेन आत्मानं स्वं पुरुषं तथा स्वां वाचं च आत्मने परस्मै पुरुषाय दिशतीं समर्पयन्ती, अथवा संविदा सम्यग्ज्ञानेन इमं अन्तरात्मानं स्वं पतिं आत्मने परस्मै ब्रह्मात्मने निवेदयन्तीं तां तादृशीं जायां स्वार्धात्मिकां वाचं अयं आत्मा पति: पुरुषस्थानीयः अश्नोति व्याप्नोति पतिरिव जायां स्वीकुरुते स्वात्मीयामेव भावयति, तथा तस्यां स्वस्त्रीभूतायां ज्ञानेच्छाकृतिचेतनाशक्तिरूपायां वाचि स्वयं प्रज्ञानसत्त्वेन आविर्भवति, स्त्रियां पुरुष इवेति भावः ॥
सा तादृशी वागेव वेदरूपेण प्रकाशते स्वानुभावादितब्रह्मात्मतत्त्वप्रकाशनार्थमिति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION The soul within, or one who has realised Brahma refers to Him by words or by mantra, that is by the power of expression. The soul as it were hands over to Him his power of speech who is like a celestial lady signifying Brahma. The soul dedicates his own body in the form of sound to Him. Thus, with full knowledge, the individual soul, through the use of the mantra offers himself to the universal soul. The universal soul receives the individual soul as his wife. It is such Vak, in the form of mantra which shines as Veda with the purpose of manifesting Brahma that is within its own experience.
