छन्दोदर्शनम्
289 पदपाठः- यः । बृहन् । बृहतः। भवति । ब्रह्म ।
ब्रह्मणाम् । यः । जनिता । ऋषिः । पतिः ॥ यः। भूतानि । बृंहय॑ति । ब्रह्मणा ।
सः। सत्यः । अयम् । अमृतः । विश्वऽवेदाः ॥ The soul is the greatest of the great. He spreads everywhere. He is the seer of all mantras and their lords. He makes all beings grow apace with the help of the mantras. He is the truth, he is immortal and omniscient.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। यः आत्मा बृहतः महतोऽपि सर्वस्मात् बृहन् महान् महीयाँश्च सन् विश्वव्यापकः बृहत्त्वात् धर्मात् बृहणत्वसत्त्वाच्च यः स्वयं ब्रह्मैव भवति ब्रह्मात्मना स्वसत्तया वरीवर्तीति भावः ॥ यश्च ब्रह्मणां वेदानां ज्ञानानां च जनिता जनयिता तत्प्रादुर्भावकारणसत्त्वपूर्णः ऋषिः द्रष्टा पति: अध्यक्ष सन् राजते, य: खलु ऋमन्त्रमुखेन संस्तुतः साक्षाद् ब्रह्मणस्पतिस्वरूपः इति भावः । तथा च गृत्समदारेयं ऋङ्मन्त्रदर्शनम् - " गणानां त्वा गणपति हवामहे | ज्येष्टराजं ब्रह्मणां ब्रह्मणस्पते०" (ऋ. मं. २-२३-१ ) इति, “ उस्रा इव सूर्यो ज्योतिषामहो विश्वेषामिज्जनिता ब्रह्मणामसि" (ऋ. मं. २-२३-२) इति च || यश्च ब्रह्मणा स्वेन मन्त्रेण भूतानि इमानि आत्मनः सकाशादेव आविर्भूतानि भूतजातानि बृहयति भूयः अभिवर्धयति स्वस्यैव चेतनाशक्त्या बहुधा महत्त्वेन च अनन्तानि सम्भावयति सोऽयं सर्वान्तरात्मा सत्यः अमृत: विश्ववेत्ता च स्वयं भवतीति ॥
COMMENTARY--SUMMARY TRANSLATION Atma is greater than anything else. By his characteristic greatness and by the capacity to grow, he himself becomes Brahma, the greatest. He is ever there as Brahma. He is the seer and lord of all knowledge, which he has himself created. It is in him to create them and everything else. He is extolled by mantras and is evidently Brahmaṇaspati himself. He with the help of his mantras developed these living beings which were born of him only. He, this inner soul of all, is the truth; he is immortal and omniscient.
षष्ठी ऋक। यो भूतानां भूतपतिर्भवति यो वा भूतानि सम्बिभर्ति गर्भ ॥ विश्वान्येतानि जजान चित्तिभिः
स सत्योऽयममृतौ विश्ववेदाः ॥ ६ ॥
