him. Thus, to praise the donor in the hope of food pollutes the renunciation tendency of an ascetic. Therefore, the donor need not be praised in such a way. However, the ascetic must preach the form, method and the outcome of donations to the deserved one for the enhancement of spirituality. By doing so the feelings of devotion and then religious awakening escalates thereby. This becomes a virtue not a fault. Thereby religious probhavana and Karma Nirjara occur. भिक्षाकालपूर्व स्वजन-गृहप्रवेश प्रायश्चित्त THE EXPIATION OF SEEKING FOOD BEFORE PROPER TIME
39. जे भिक्खू समाणे वा वसमाणे वा गामाणुगामं वा दूइज्जमाणे पुरे संथुयाणि वा, पच्छा संथुयाणि वा कुलाई पुव्वामेव भिक्खायरियाए अणुप्पविसइ अणुपविसंतं वा साइज्जइ। ____ 39. जो भिक्षु स्थिरवास रहा हुआ हो, मासकल्प आदि रहा हुआ हो अथवा ग्रामानुग्राम विहार करते हुए कहीं पहुँचा हो, वहाँ पर अपने पूर्व परिचित या पश्चात् परिचित कुलों में भिक्षा काल के पूर्व 2 ही प्रवेश करता है अथवा प्रवेश करने वाले का समर्थन करता है। (उसे लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।)
39. The ascetic who is staying permanently have reached after completing one month stay at some where else or travelling if he enters into the houses of his preacquainted ones or into the house of familiar clans before the alms seeking times or supports the ones who enters so a laghumasik atonement comes to him.
विवेचन-जिस क्षेत्र में किसी स्थिरवासी स्थविर भिक्षु, किसी मासकल्पवासी भिक्षु अथवा किसी ग्रामानुग्रामविहारी भिक्षु के पित-मातृ पक्ष के अथवा श्वसुर पक्ष के स्वजन परिजन रहते हों तो उसे वहाँ भिक्षाकाल सर के पूर्व भिक्षा के लिए नहीं जाना चाहिए। यदि वह जाता है तो लघुमासिक प्रायश्चित्त आता है।
भिक्षाकाल के पूर्व जाकर पुनः भिक्षाकाल में जाने से औद्देशिक, क्रीत आदि दोषों के लगने की सम्भावना रहती है।
इसी प्रकार जहाँ कहीं साधु-साध्वियों के रागानुबन्ध वाले गृहस्थ रहते हों तो वहाँ भी भिक्षा काल के पूर्व जाकर पुनः भिक्षाकाल में जाने से पूर्वोक्त दोष लगने की सम्भावना रहती है।
भिक्षु यदि भिक्षाकाल के पूर्व उक्त कुलों में जाता है तो उसके मन में यह संकल्प रहता है कि "पहले जाने से ये लोग मेरे लिए कुछ विशेष सामग्री बनायेंगे और मैं पुनः भिक्षाकाल में जाकर यथेष्ट आहारादि ले आऊँगा" इस और तथ्य को लक्ष्य में रखकर ही सूत्रोक्त प्रायश्चित्त का विधान है तथा इस विषय का निषेध आचारांग श्रुतस्कंध 2, 3 अध्ययन 1 के उद्देशक 9 में किया गया है।
Comments—In the territories where the parents or the in-laws of the ascetic reside then ascetic must not go to seek alms before the alms seeking time. If he goes to seek alms an expiation of laghumasik afflicts him.
If the ascetic goes into the above mentioned clans before the alms seeking time then a disposition/ idea remains in the mind of the ascetic that “These relatives will prepare some special dishes” and I may bring some delicious food again at alms seeking time. By taking into consideration this fact the legislation of atonement has been made.
Its prohibition is also given in chapter nine of first adhyana of second part of Achararanga-sutra.
