निम्नोक्त कार्य करने वाला साध-साध्वी
लघु चौमासिक प्रायश्चित्त का अधिकारी होता है जहाँ स्त्री-पुरुष सम्बन्धी घर-गृहस्थी की क्रियाएँ होती हों, उस स्थान को 'सागारिक शय्या' कहते है हैं। साधु जब ऐसी सागारिक शय्या में रहता है तो वहाँ होने वाली सावध क्रियाएँ जैसे खाना बनाना, स्नान आदि के लिये सचित्त जल प्रयोग से उसकी संयम साधना में दोष लगता है।
___ -उ.16, सू. 1-2-3 ___ आर्य क्षेत्र की ओर जाने वाले किसी भी मार्ग में यदि चोर-डाकुओं का उपद्रव हो अथवा जो मार्ग नगर ,
में जाने के लिए अत्यधिक लम्बा हो, उस मार्ग से साधु को नहीं जाना चाहिए। क्योंकि ऐसे मार्ग पर क्रूर-अज्ञानी मनुष्यों द्वारा मरणांतिक उपसर्ग होने पर आत्म विराधना होने की सम्भावना रहती है। साथ ही साथ लम्बे मार्ग पर चलने से जीवों की विराधना होने पर पहले महाव्रत में दोष भी लगता है।
-उ. 16,सू. 25-26 3. साधु को म्लेच्छ आदि जुगुप्सित कुलों में ठहरना नहीं चाहिए। यदि किसी कारणवश ठहरना पड़ जाए
तो वहाँ पर स्वाध्याय का उद्देश्य या वांचना आदि नहीं करना चाहिए। -उ. 16, सू. 30-31

The place where household activities are performed is called residence of householder. In case a monk lives in such a place his ascetic practice becomes faulty since activities besmeared with violence to living beings namely preparing food, bathing and the like are undertaken there as live water is used in those activities.
-Udd.16, Su.1-2-3 A monk should not move on such a path where there is likelihood of trouble caused by robbers or the path is very long. It is because these cruel ignorant persons, may cause deadly trouble and one may go astray. Further by moving on the very long path, the violence is caused to the living beings. So the practice si of first major vow is adversely affected.
-Udd.16, Su.25-26 A monk should not stay in rustic down grade families. In case due to any unavoidable circumstances, he had to stay there, he should not study scripture there. He should also not deliver any spiritual talk there. -Udd. 16, Su. 30-31 $5
