घार 11. जो भिक्षु इन्द्रमहोत्सव, स्कन्दमहोत्सव, यक्षमहोत्सव, भूतमहोत्सव, इन चार महोत्सवों में घर

महाप्रतिपदाओं में स्वाध्याय करता है अथवा स्वाध्याय करने वाले का समर्थन करता है। (उसे -
लघुचौमासी प्रायश्चित्त आता है।) . The ascetic who does “Swadhayaya" in four great festivals namely Indra festival,
Skandfestival, Yaksh festivals, Bhoot festival and supports the ones who does so. B 12. The ascetic who does "Swadhayaya" in four great "Pratipada" of the month of
Ashavin, Kartika, Chaitri, Ashadha or supports the ones who does so, a laghuchaumasi expiation comes to him.
विवेचन-आषाढ़ी पूर्णिमा, आसौजी पूर्णिमा, कार्तिकी पूर्णिमा और चैत्री पूर्णिमा के दिन और उसके दूसरे से दिन की प्रतिपदा (एकम) इन आठ दिनों में स्वाध्याय करने का इन दो सूत्रों में प्रायश्चित्त कहा गया है।
इन्द्र, स्कन्ध, यक्ष और भूत-ये चारों महोत्सव क्रमशः इन्द्र से, कार्तिकेय देव से, यक्ष एवं भूत व्यन्तर जाति र के देवों से सम्बन्धित हैं अर्थात् इन्हें प्रसन्न रखने के लिए लोग इनकी पूजा-प्रतिष्ठा करते हुए दिन भर खाना पीना, र गाना-बजाना, नाचना-घूमना, मद्यपान करना आदि मौज शौक करते हुए प्रमोद पूर्वक रहते हैं। ये महोत्सव पूनम के AK दिन होते हैं। देवों का आवागमन भी इन दिनों में बना रहता है। तथा अनेक लोगों का भी इधर-उधर आवागमन रहता है है। प्रतिपदा के दिन भी इन महोत्सवों का कुछ कार्यक्रम शेष रह जाता है अत: उसे भी महामहोत्सव की प्रतिपदा का दिन कहा गया है।
स्वाध्याय निषेध का कारण यह है कि उन दिनों में भ्रमण करने वाले देव छोटे-बड़े अनेक प्रकार के होते हैं तथा भिन्न-भिन्न स्वभाव वाले एवं कौतूहली भी होते हैं। वे देव स्वाध्याय में स्खलना हो जाने पर उपद्रव कर सकते हैं। स्खलना न होने पर भी अधिक ऋद्धिसम्पन्न देव उपद्रव कर सकते हैं।
मौज शौक मनोरंजन आनन्द के दिन शास्त्रवाचन लोक में अव्यावहारिक समझा जाता है। लोग भी अनेक प्रकार के नशे में भ्रमण करते हुए कुतूहल या द्वेषवश उपद्रव कर सकते हैं। इत्यादि कारणों से इन आठ दिनों में से स्वाध्याय करने की आगम आज्ञा नहीं है।
Comments-The law of expiation of doing “Swadhayaya" applied to the day of bright full moon and the first day following it study of scriptures the month of Ashadha, Ashoja, Kartiki and Chaitri relating to in these eight days has been barred.
These four great festivals are connected to the Indra, Kartikeya Yaskh and the peripatetic gods- it means to please these deities by propitiating and worshiping there by and drinking all the day, enjoying by singing, dancing playing musical instruments, drinking etc, the people spend time joy-fully. All these festivals are celebrated on full moon bright day.
