Gods to themselves. This spirit of leaving Gods Gods themselves, has entered into us long since. We are trying our atmost to turn our Gods into wen aud the community wbieh best succeeds in doing is the most reasonable land acceptable for humanity. "Wonder is going out of world” says bearlyle and that being the sign of the time we must raise ourself to that sign, otherwise we are behind the times. Not to be with the curr. ent of times' means, we have teached a pinnacle of pro • gress which the common sense of bumanity bas not obtained or we are rolling into depth of degradation that we are not able to overun progress. We feel that we are backward people and that individual feeling I take to be the best proof of our degradation.
लेखक के कथन का भावार्थ यह है कि महावीर के जीवन का अर्थ मेरे मतानुसार यह है कि वे मनुष्यत्व से ईश्वरत्व की ओर बढ़े हैं, न कि ईश्वरत्व से परमेश्वरत्व की ओर । अगर वे ईश्वरत्व से परमेश्वरत्व की ओर बढ़ते तो मैं उनके जीवन को स्पर्श तक न करता । इसका कारण यह है कि हम मनुष्य हैं देवता नहीं, मनुष्य ही मनुष्य के लिये सबसे अधिक अध्ययन करने को वस्तु है । मनुष्य जाति के लिये शिक्षाग्रहण करने योग्य बहुत ही वस्तुएँ हैं इसलिए वह ईश्वर को एक तरफ छोड़कर अपने आप ही के अध्ययन को स्वभावतः अधिक पसन्द करेगी। ईश्वर को ईश्वर ही के लिये छोड़ दिया जाय यह भावना एक दीर्घकालीन समय से मानवीय मन में स्थापन किये हुए हैं। हम ईश्वर को मनुष्यों में परिणित करने का प्रयत्न कर रहे हैं एवं जो समाज इस कार्य में अधिक प्रयत्नशील है वह मनुष्य जाति के लिए Shree Sudharmaswami Gyanbhandar-Umara, Surat www.umaragyanbhandar.com
