(૩૧ ) ગેનઈ દેશ ક્યાં આવ્યો? હવે સાથે સાથે એ પણ જિજ્ઞાસા થાય કે તે ગેનઈ દેશ કયાં આવ્યો છે? તેને માટે પ્રમાણુ શું ? ડૉ. સિલ્વન લેવી પિતાના લેખમાં લખે છે કે –
(1) Here however, I shall only occupy myself with the intermidiate step between Ujjeni and Vedisa, two perfectly definite Localities; the one is still now Ujjain ( Ogein ), to the North of Indore, the other is Besnagar, very near Bhilsa, ............ The Pårāyan places the city of Gonaddha between these two points............... The equivalence Gonard=Gonaddha is certain. The name of Gonard is indissolutly connected with the memory of Patanjali="the Gonardian” Gonardiya.
હું સંપૂર્ણ રીતે સ્પષ્ટ આવેલા ઉજજેની અને વિદિશા એ બે વચ્ચેના સ્થાનને હાથ ધરીશ અને બીજું ભિલસા પાસે બેસનગર છે. પારાયણ એ બે બિન્દુઓ વચ્ચે ગેનદને મૂકે છે . ગેન એ ગેનદનું સમાનાર્થક છે. અને તે નામ પતંજલિની યાદદાસ્ત સાથે છૂટું ન પડી શકે તેવી રીતે જોડાયેલું છે.
