* The religious rites which are the purpose of Dharma, are not by themselves Dharma, but Dharma, in its real significance, is the act of purifying life with their aid. Hence it would be clear that Dharma is not confined to some special modes of rituals, but it may even exist among those who follow diverse rites or ceremonies. 40
[Any diverse religious rites if pure and spotless, can arouse inner sentiments of welfare and thereby can form good character; and just then they (those rites) are considered to be fruitful. Thus, the rise of pure and unsullied reflections and forming of good conduct consequent on those reflections, is really Dharma, and the fruitfulness of outward rites consists only in being useful in the attainment of this Dharma. ]
